[Pathfinder] The monk and the whip

Posted in pathfinder, rpg by jatori on 20 June 2012

This is my third character build using the maneuver master archetype (see the quarterstaff master and judo master). I like the archetypes that give up the ability to flurry – I find that I have more freedom to experiment with various weapon styles and character concepts without feeling obligated to make it work with the flurry mechanic. Today, I present a monk that makes use of a whip:

Half-elf maneuver master / lore warden (yes, lore warden again)

S 14 D 18 C 14 I 10 W 12 C 8

M01 – Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Whip) – Ancestral arms alternative racial trait
M01 – Improved Trip
M01 – Stunning Fist
M01 – Weapon Finesse
M02 – Improved Disarm
M03 – Whip Mastery
M04 -
M05 – Serpent Lash
M06 – Greater Reposition
F07 – Improved Whip Mastery
F07 – Greater Serpent Lash
F08 – Combat Expertise
F08 – Weapon Focus (Whip)
M09 – Power Attack
M10 -
M11 – Greater Whip Mastery
M12 – Medusa’s Wrath

OR

M01 – Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Whip)
M01 – Improved Trip
M01 – Stunning Fist
M01 – Weapon Finesse
M02 – Improved Disarm
M03 – Whip Mastery
M04 -
M05 – Serpent Lash
M06 – Greater Reposition
M07 – Improved Whip Mastery
M08 -
M09 – Improved Serpent Lash
M10 – Medusa’s Wrath
M11 – Greater Whip Mastery
M12 -

Both builds use the whip to perform maneuvers with 15 foot reach. I’d like to squeeze Combat Reflexes into the builds, but I’m not to sure where to slot it. Best of all, whenever you successfully pull a foe towards you, by using reposition, you can yell: ”GET OVER HERE!”
