those that are

tenletter is a blog about gaming. Instead of self-inflating autobiographies about our years of gaming experience, here are our Myers-Briggs Type Indicator results. We took the tests here, with no pre-test or post-test professional interviews. Don’t read too much into it.

Jatori

I am an Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging (INTJ). Heiss (2005) introduces the INTJ as follows:

“To outsiders, INTJs may appear to project an aura of “definiteness”, of self-confidence. This self-confidence, sometimes mistaken for simple arrogance by the less decisive, is actually of a very specific rather than a general nature; its source lies in the specialized knowledge systems that most INTJs start building at an early age. When it comes to their own areas of expertise — and INTJs can have several — they will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not they can help you, and if so, how. INTJs know what they know, and perhaps still more importantly, they know what they don’t know.”

Famous INTJs include: Friedrich Nietzsche; Augustus Caesar; Jane Austen; Hannibal, Carthaginian military leader (i.e. not the cannibal); Angela Lansbury; C. S. Lewis; Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California and Terminator; Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice); Gandalf the Grey (J. R. R. Tolkein’s Middle Earth books); Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs); Stephen Hawking.

Peasantbutcher

I am an Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging ISFJ. Heiss (2007) introduces the ISFJ as follows:

ISFJs are characterized above all by their desire to serve others, their “need to be needed.” In extreme cases, this need is so strong that standard give-and-take relationships are deeply unsatisfying to them; however, most ISFJs find more than enough with which to occupy themselves within the framework of a normal life. (Since ISFJs, like all SJs, are very much bound by the prevailing social conventions, their form of “service” is likely to exclude any elements of moral or political controversy; they specialize in the local, the personal, and the practical.)

Famous ISFJs include: Mother Teresa; Dr. John H. Watson, M.D. (Sherlock Holmes’ faithful sidekick); Louisa May Alcott; Bianca (Taming of the Shrew); Kristi Yamaguchi, US Olympic figure skater.

Trashcondor

I am an Extroverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging (ENTJ). Butt (2005) introduces the ENTJ as follows:

“ENTJs have a natural tendency to marshall and direct. This may be expressed with the charm and finesse of a world leader or with the insensitivity of a cult leader. The ENTJ requires little encouragement to make a plan. One ENTJ put it this way… “I make these little plans that really don’t have any importance to anyone else, and then feel compelled to carry them out.” While “compelled” may not describe ENTJs as a group, nevertheless the bent to plan creatively and to make those plans reality is a common theme for NJ types.”

Famous ENTJs include: Hillary Clinton; Napoleon Bonaparte; Margret Thatcher; Bill Gates; Harrison Ford (Solo shot first); Sigourney Weaver; George Benard Shaw; Patrick Stewart.

Etufo

I am an Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving (INFP). Butt (2005) introduces the INFP as follows:

INFPs never seem to lose their sense of wonder. One might say they see life through rose-colored glasses. It’s as though they live at the edge of a looking-glass world where mundane objects come to life, where flora and fauna take on near-human qualities.

INFP children often exhibit this in a ‘Calvin and Hobbes’ fashion, switching from reality to fantasy and back again. With few exceptions, it is the NF child who readily develops imaginary playmates (as with Anne of Green Gables’s “bookcase girlfriend”–her own reflection) and whose stuffed animals come to life like the Velveteen Rabbit and the Skin Horse…

Famous INFPs include: William Shakespeare; Julia Roberts; A. A. Milne (Winnie the Pooh); Helen Keller; Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes) and E.T. the extraterrestrial.

rolery

I am an Extroverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging (ENFJ). Butt (2005) introduces the ENFJ as follows:

ENFJs are the benevolent ‘pedagogues’ of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it’s usually not meant as manipulation — ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are.

Famous ENFJs include Abraham Lincoln, Sean Connery, Johnny Depp, Oprah Winfrey, Randy Quaid and Tommy Lee Jones.

Zeneofa

Also INTJ.

Endraca

Another INTJ. INTJs are supposed to be pretty scarce actually.

Avianfoo

I am a INTJa … like a NINJA but with more thinking and less stealth involved.  Though a lot of the questions could go 50/50.  Where is the “neither” button? :p We must make this test better… hackzor

Sometimes, however, we do actually let bits of info about our gaming superiority and awesomenes slip out in our posts, like here and here.

  2. INTJas – incapable of human understanding and empathy, but smart enough to fake it.

  3. I’d like to add that my “TJ” rating at the end is purely coincidence, my “strength percentage” for the rating of Thinking and Judging is 1% in each case.

  4. Interestingly enough, I did the test back in 1999. It was conducted by a psychology professional; I had the proper pre- and post-test interviews etc.. And it turned out that I was an ENTJ back then. In 2003, I did the test again, and I was an INTJ. Introverts aren’t necessarily shy and retreating people – it’s just that my social needs may have changed since back then. You get different levels of these traits and sometimes you can reach a balance or halfway mark between the two extremes. On another day or in a different situation, you may be an FP, Trash.

  5. Forgot to say: This was an inane interweb version of the test – so don’t expect a good analysis.
